Trying to pick which college is best for you? This might help: Washington Monthly has just released its 2013 list of college rankings. The list is designed to “rate schools based on their contribution to public good.”
They do that by judging each school in three broad categories: “Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs), and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).”
The schools they rank are further divided into the following categories: Liberal Arts Colleges, National Universities, Master’s Universities, baccalaureate colleges, and community colleges. They’ve also picked a “best bang for your buck” school for each category.
Top scores for 2013 go to Brwn Mawr College, University of California – San Diego, Trinity University, Elizabeth City State University, and Saint Paul College. Check out the full list for details.
