Yep, it’s Nadella. After a week of strong speculation, Microsoft has announced that Satya Nadella will be its new CEO. He replaces Steve Ballmer at the helm of a company trying to navigate terrain that has changed much since the glory days of the Windows PC.
Along with this news comes word that co-founder Bill Gates has stepped down from his position as chairman and will become technology advisor to Nadella. Gates will, however, remain on the board. Replacing him as chairman is John Thompson, another board member.
Microsoft said in a statement that Bill Gates will “devote more time to the company, supporting Nadella in shaping technology and product direction.”
