When Microsoft launched Windows 10, it told customers they had six months to upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 for free. That meant that everyone who upgraded by July 29, 2016 would get Windows 10 for free, and everyone who upgraded later would have to pay. To get started, head over to Microsoft’s site and download Windows 10.
