Microsoft has some good news for Office 365 Education subscribers: They now have access to Microsoft Teams for no additional cost. While Teams was made available for business users last week, it’s just now coming to the education side of things.
What’s Teams again? It’s a collaboration tool that lets people work together on projects, regardless of where the team members are located. It’s a chat-based workspace that could be very useful for students working together on projects for class.
From Microsoft’s blog post:
Turn on Microsoft Teams today
Starting today, administrators can enable Microsoft Teams for their institutions through the Office 365 admin center. Although Teams is off by default, IT admins can easily configure access at the license level for Faculty & Teachers and/or Students.
We recommend that IT admins enable Microsoft Teams and begin using it now within their IT organization; and with targeted groups of faculty, staff, teachers, and higher-education students.
